From the onset of objectives to the key takeaways and the indelible story: what was it like to attend The FUEL Human Festival?

Longing for heartsease, I signed up for the Fuel Human Festival as soon as I saw Deepak Ramola’s Instagram post, in the midst of my IBDP Examinations. However nervous, I penned down my application to venture to a place brimming with the rays of hope surrounded by like-minded people. An absurd idea for the consensus to attend the Festival resonating wisdom after knocking-down the board examinations, I found two of my close friends looking forward to diving into the ocean of wisdom. The hectic train travel to Jaipur followed by the chaotic bus journey to Dehradun, our excitement had already depreciated, thanks to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The deteriorating excitement and exhaustion reached to its unbearable after an elongated wait in Dehradun before we finally boarded the festival bus to head to the venue. The serene location was surrounded by the essence of the countryside on the right and the majestic Mussoorie on its left, recharging my batteries of enthusia...

Why should you iron your clothes?

I always love to hear my dad's childhood experiences of life not just because he is my inspiration, but because of his hardships and poverty he encountered which did not stop him from evolving as an established professional.  Prepping myself to head for an outing with my friends on Sunday afternoon, I wore a creasy peach shirt and wrinkled black pants. And there, my dad called me and of course, scolded me. But I know how to tackle his anger, and so I channelised his rage into a life-lesson asking him about his experiences of ironing clothes. But  my very first question was evident, contemplating his childhood.  Thus, the conversation goes, "Hey Dad! I wonder, did you iron your clothes in your childhood?", I curiously asked, channelising his anger.  To which he replied, "So what we were poor and had patches on our clothes I would present myself in the best manner I could from the available resources." "Were you inspired by someone you saw i...

Why am I religious?

I’m a 17-year-old  religious  high-school student. It was three years back I transformed into a religious fellow. Why? Believing in God prevents me from exercising anything immoral and against human principles. The belief in God’s existence would resonate confidence in me because I know what bad I am going through in my life will be cured by God sooner or later. It persuades me to meditate and attain a connection with the Almighty. My hopes remain alive in the worst scenarios just because I know that God would do, something and get me through it, and this works not only because he does something, but also because I will now put more efforts. Believing in the Almighty has nothing to do with the awful things that exist in the world. If we would have been following his essence and philosophies, there shall be  no  problems that would arise, believe it or not! Instead, being faithful in God would refrain me and everyone else from doing something dreadful. ...

My visit to the Tibetan Refugee Centre

"What's next - where are we heading, Uncle?", I asked the driver. "Tibetan Refugee Center, it is, Bhaiya Ji!", he replied. Excited to sense a refugee centre, for the first time, I geared myself with my pullover to step outside the car. As we moved closer and above the sea level I was only more intrigued to discover what's out there! As I descended the vehicle, I was greeted with the cold breeze and mesmerised by the heavenly Kanchenjunga range. The scenic view from the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre, Darjeeling Moving closer to the arena, I glanced at a tin shack premise painted in "Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre", and I realised that this centre was 'self-propelled' by the refugees since 1959. One of the many buildings in the centre The centre is a mini-village accommodating nearly 800 Tibetans hosting a beautiful Buddha Monastery, a school for the tiny Tibetans and Handicrafts as well as Handloom workshop...

What is legal now but won't be legal in 20 years?

Bathtubs. Did you know that  when you take your heavenly bath in a bathtub, you use a whopping 60–70 gallons of water  at least, while  it only makes around 10–20 gallons of water to take a shower.  The difference is huge! Coming to the reason as to why bathtubs will be illegal,  let's look at some water statistics: By 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas. 31% of schools don’t have clean water. 3.6 billion people worldwide (nearly half the global population) are already living in potential water-scarce regions at least one month per year, and this could increase to 4.8–5.7 billion in 2050. Two-thirds of the world’s population currently live in areas that experience water scarcity for at least one month a year. In Cape Town, one of South Africa's biggest cities, the government announced: “day zero” – when dam levels would be so low that they would turn off the taps in Cape Town and send people to communal wate...

My speech at the Bhilwara Model United Nations 2018

Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Distinguished Guests Welcome to the first edition of Bhilwara Model United Nation s, the very first conference in the entire Rajasthan to have associated with the United Nations Organisation for the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals.  This is Vaibhav Jain, and it is my distinct pleasure to serve as the Secretary-General for the Bhilwara Model United Nations, the year 2018.  This day is what we have been dreading about and are geared up to. It was just two months back, Divyam and I had a vision, a vision to get the youth out of the technical world, a vision to promote the development of soft-skills; the survival skills, and the vision where we accumulate the future leaders to come together and formulate innovative policies, broadening their horizons of thinking, implementing and resolving.  As a wise man once said, "have a vision. It is the ability to see the invisible. And if you can see the invisible, you can defi...

The terrified pigeon

Pigeon on a mission! Last evening, the sky was a blanket of grey, with some blue blotches in it. These clouds seemed ominous, like a malevolent angel. Every time I look up in the sky, I find flocks of pigeons rushing to their homes, with their friends and family to safeguard their children. The exact moment I captured this under my lens, I felt that this little one may have also lost his flock of pigeons and was more panicked to reach his home to make sure his family is all safe. The sky was beautiful but unpredictable. I was rejoiced by the beauty of nature but frightened to foretell what would this one do. This little bird silhouettes that it returns home in a rush after finding it's dinner, in the gloomy evening! I hope the pigeon reached its destination safe & sound.

How important is it to believe in Yourself?

‘Believe in yourself’, a phrase which can be heard oftentimes especially by the motivational speakers or counsellors. To perform, present, study, achieve, accomplish, enhance, and do something you have to first establish that belief in yourself! ‘Believing’ itself is a strong word (or characteristic) of a personality. Believing in yourself is same as gaining confidence, in a literal way. Sharing one of my classmate's story: My Classmate (X) is not as good in academics as in the field of arts. But what he decided shook the whole fraternity. He decided to go for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics all at HIGHER LEVEL in International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. We used to taunt and tease him sometimes and also tried to make him realise that this is not for you! Being average at these subjects he decided to opt for them. What I am trying to convey is he BELIEVED in HIMSELF which made him go for a typical subject combination leading to a path of more struggles a...

Acche Din: a Myth

I quote “Bhaiyon or Behno, Mitron, mere pyaare desh waasiyo, Ache din ayenge” I unquote. This sugar quoted affinity articulated in an eloquent way entertained the country for over three years now just like ‘All is well’ catchphrase did in 3 idiots and people were injected with a dose of hope. That was entertainment and this is Democracy - the largest in the World - which does not run on catchphrases, dialogues, slogans, and standing jokes. You can fool a person in many ways, you can even fool many persons once, but you can never fool many people in many ways: at least not with ‘ache din’ phrase.   India has always been an emotionally charged country which has lived by the letters- H.O.P.E, Hope. Be it the hardest global downturn, famine, flood, terrorism, nationwide protests or scandals. India lived by all tides in the name of Democracy. But what about those billions, with their deaf, dumb, and blind faith, who crowned a dream seller to do what? Is it to receive failed demone...
