My speech at the Bhilwara Model United Nations 2018

Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Distinguished Guests Welcome to the first edition of Bhilwara Model United Nations, the very first conference in the entire Rajasthan to have associated with the United Nations Organisation for the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals.

This is Vaibhav Jain, and it is my distinct pleasure to serve as the Secretary-General for the Bhilwara Model United Nations, the year 2018.

This day is what we have been dreading about and are geared up to. It was just two months back, Divyam and I had a vision, a vision to get the youth out of the technical world, a vision to promote the development of soft-skills; the survival skills, and the vision where we accumulate the future leaders to come together and formulate innovative policies, broadening their horizons of thinking, implementing and resolving.

As a wise man once said, "have a vision. It is the ability to see the invisible. And if you can see the invisible, you can definitely achieve the impossible."

It is clearly not about what vision is, but our vision does.

Our potential energy, the idea, needed that very spark to be ignited and it is only when in the very first meeting with our host, we were able to forecast our future to this day!

I am fortunate to witness a group of high-school students stepping in the campus with a look of anticipation, enthusiasm and excitement in their eyes, with the vision to make the world a better place to live in, again!

Delegates, you possess an incredible sense of idealism, and I am pretty confident about that. I believe, our sense of conscience is one of our greatest strengths because if we cannot imagine an ideal world, we will never be able to progress and solve the issues that our society faces over time.

Apple and Microsoft have some elements in common:
Both were found in the period of Stagflation: the deadly coalition of high inflation rates, decreasing employment and withering GDP.

And what's common between the founders is they have a vision, they have optimism, they have the abilities to make the change, and the best part is this can be us!

It subtly depends on how we go about a crisis: either as a problem or an opportunity.

What we aim at a Model UN Conference is to not only engage delegates in diplomacy and international relations but also develop a healthy and optimistic mindset.

Instead of viewing problems as problems, we can look at the future, and know that for our generation, there is a lot of scopes to create a change in the world.

But, what the bottom line is that it is optimism that we need to be able to implement our vision and make a change in our world of opportunities.

We have a chance to leave a long-lasting legacy, we have a chance to change the world, we have the chance to inspire the world.

We hope that this conference is one of those significant steps along the journey to reaching fulfilment to working for something bigger than yourself and for making a difference in the world.

We cannot wait to share this weekend with you, and it is with that spirit that each and every one of you will represent your respective countries throughout the conference and maintain the diplomat's sanctity, I, Vaibhav Jain, the Secretary-General for Bhilwara Model United Nations 2018 declare the conference open!
